Meghan Trainor sells Los Angeles home that once belonged to Bing Crosby for nearly $ 6 million

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, sold their home in the Toluca Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles for $ 5.94 million, records show.

Listed in May for $ 5.95 million by Justin Paul Huchel of Hilton & Hyland, the private and gated property proved to be a hot property in an emerging Los Angeles market and received several offers. After accepting an offer in early June, sales closed in about a week.

Dating from the 1930s and updated since then, the single-story house was once part of a larger estate owned by pop singer Bing Crosby. Over the years it has had several other prominent owners, including actors Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green. Trainor bought the property in 2016 for $ 4.9 million, according to multiple reports.

The property sits on approximately 1 acre property on Toluca Lake and includes a 7,174 square foot main house, a freestanding recording / dance studio, and a fully equipped gym. A large swimming pool with a raised spa, an outdoor dining area, and several play areas fill the grounds with mature trees and greenery.

The main house, redesigned in a modern farmhouse style, has an open floor plan with high ceilings, wide wooden floorboards and steel-clad windows that reveal a view of the garden. A kitchen with a massive island, two family rooms, five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms complete the floor plan. In the heart of the house, a double-sided fireplace separates the living room and dining room.

Developed as a luxury development for the stars during the silent movie era, the Toluca Lake neighborhood has long been popular with Hollywood stars and entertainment heavyweights thanks to its large lots and proximity to studio lots. Access to good schools and a few local boutiques and trendy restaurants make the quiet neighborhood one of the most popular in Los Angeles to this day.

Numerous celebrities have made Toluca Lake their home over the decades, including the great Bob Hope, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Miley Cyrus, and members of the Getty family. That year, Grammy-winning Kelly Clarkson made headlines when she bought a colonial-style home in Toluca Lake for $ 5.445 million The Los Angeles Times.

When it comes to real estate, Toluca Lake generally has a trickle of property launched each year, making it prone to bidding wars and expensive bids. The average sales price for the area in 2021 is about $ 1.25 million, records show. In 2018, billionaire businessman Ron Burkle set a high for the area when he bought Bob Hope’s long-standing Toluca Lake estate for $ 15 million.
