John Legend and Chrissy Teigen sell Beverly Hills home for $ 16.8 million

Chrissy Teigen and musician John Legend sold an 8,520 square foot home in Beverly Hills for $ 16.8 million. The seven bedroom, nine bathroom villa has been on the market for a year.

Stockbroker Marshall Peck of Douglas Elliman, Beverly Hills, says a private equity manager bought the house.

Coldwell Banker’s Joyce Rey represented the buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Peck says Teigen and Legend bought the house from a group of investors in 2016 for $ 14.1 million and made significant updates by installing a state-of-the-art kitchen for Teigen, 35, a cookbook author. The cook’s kitchen has oak cabinets and served as the backdrop for Teigen’s videos for her cooking side, Cravings. Legend, who is a judge for “The Voice” on NBC, took home his 12th Grammy in March for “Bigger Love,” his seventh studio album.

The couple offered the house for $ 23.95 million in August 2020. In May, Teigen and Legend cut the price to $ 17.7 million.

“We had an offer within a week of being listed, but it failed. When it went into escrow, people thought it was sold. It just lost its momentum, ”says Peck.

Peck says they lowered the price because they were motivated.

“They just wanted to sell the house, but it’s still a record price for the neighborhood,” he adds.

Teigen and Legend, 42, moved out of the house in August.

Peck says the couple moved into a 11,000-square-foot house in Beverly Hills that he helped them for $ 17.5 million last year.

Why the move? “They needed more bedrooms. You have a lot of people living with you. Chrissy’s mother lives with them. You have a big family, ”says Peck.

The modern home has a saltwater pool, hot tub and a vine-covered pergola. The residence has a soundproofed home theater, gym and beauty salon. The master suite has a stunning bathroom. And each of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. No Legend home would be complete without music, and this mansion has a piano in the entrance. With floor-to-ceiling windows and breathtaking views of the canyon, the cool and warm hues show the couple’s love for contemporary and modern style.

“To be honest, I think it’s the nicest house in Beverly Hills. The floors are made of Ceruse oak. The walls are made of hand-rolled clay. It has teak ceilings and onyx sinks. It’s spectacular. It has a Teuco marble bathtub imported from Italy. The living room ceilings are 10 meters high, which is almost unknown, and stepping into the main closet is like stepping into Chanel. It’s completely private with breathtaking views. It’s a beautiful home with a huge wow factor, ”says Peck, who has been selling real estate for 12 years.

The house was built in 1966 and sold by Rihanna for $ 7.65 million in 2014. Legend and Teigen were unavailable for comment.
